Jenny has spent her career supporting people with a learning disability who have complex needs to move on from institutional environments and have more opportunities and to take control of the design and delivery of their own support.
Jenny was brought up in Angus, Scotland and qualified as a nurse (RNLD) in Dundee the mid 1980s. She has worked in the NHS and for local authorities leading and managing a range of provision, before working in the independent sector. Prior to being a director with Thera, she led the development team in a specialist NHS Trust.
Jenny shares the Group Director – Learning Disability Leadership role with Matthew Smith, who brings to the role his lived experience of learning disability alongside his professional experience in advocacy.
