What is Restore2Mini and STOMP training?

RESTORE2™ is training aimed at giving carers the confidence to recognise and communicate soft signs of illness in people with a learning disability. Soft signs may be changes to someone’s behaviour and other things that tell you something isn’t right and they are becoming unwell. It gives carers the knowledge of where and who within the health services they should contact, and the language they need to get the right help for the person they support sooner.

STOMP ( Stop over Medication of people with a learning disability, autism or both) is a national initiative involving many difference organisations which are helping to stop the overuse of psychotropic medicines.

What will I learn from Thera’s Restore2™Mini and STOMP training?

The training will help you as a parent-carer to:

  • Know which NHS entity to call for help first
  • Learn what information to provide, how to communicate and what key words to use when speaking to health professionals to get the right help sooner for the person you care for
  • Build your confidence in dealing with health professionals and when advocating for the person you care for
