Before joining Royal Borough of Greenwich’s newly established Supported Internship Programme, Anna was a college student keen to take her first steps into the world of work. She joined the programme with clear goals including developing new skills and better understanding her own strengths, whilst exploring what it meant to be part of a workplace environment. She was particularly eager to gain experience in administrative roles and working collaboratively within a small team.
During her rotation, Anna spent time working within the Commissioning Team, which carries out extensive research into the support pathways available across the borough. This was a new area of work for her and involved collating large amounts of information, as well as attending meetings with organisations across the borough. She quickly found opportunities to use her creativity, particularly through
designing and preparing PowerPoint presentations to support the team’s understanding of available services.
Throughout the rotation, Anna worked with her Employment Advisor to break down her tasks down into manageable steps, introducing assistive materials, strengthening organisational skills, and supporting travel to off-site meetings. Together, they spent time reflecting on her achievements and translating these experiences into CV-ready skills as well developing her CV and starting her job search searching journey, navigating the various different application processes used by employers.
Anna’s mentor has also praised her contribution to the team:
Anna has been a lovely addition to our team with a warm and engaging personality. She has established working relationships with a number of colleagues and worked well with them. She has shown dedication to what is quite a difficult role, especially for someone just entering the working world.
As Anna continues to build her CV, she’s busy gaining further experience across her internship placements. Looking ahead, her next rotation will see her move into Corporate Reception, where she will continue developing her skills in a new environment. Good luck to Anna on her upcoming placement!
