We have an exciting opportunity to join Unity Works as a Non-Executive Director/Trustee.

Unity Works is a London based charity supporting people with a learning disability to gain skills, qualifications and jobs, so they can reach their full potential. We have successfully established award winning social enterprises that support our accredited and vocational training and apprenticeship programmes, high-profile partnerships with a range of employers, and mainstream employment programmes with Jobcentre Plus along with a number of London colleges that we are integrating our health and wellbeing support into.

Unity Works is now planning to offer its expertise to more people with a learning disability across a wider geography to; enable more people with a learning disability to benefit from its unique employment pathway; share best practice in how to achieve this; increase awareness of the benefits of employing people with a learning disability and contribute to a more diverse and inclusive workforce.

Given our ambitious goals and aspirations to create a greater impact, we have an exciting opportunity to join the Unity Works as a Non-Executive Director/Trustee. We are looking for individuals who can bring a track record of strategic oversight, constructive challenge and sound judgement, to help us shape the future of the charity and broaden our impact. Equally, we are looking for individuals who are passionate about making a difference and unleashing the potential of people with a learning disability.

Whilst we are looking for board members with all round Board and business management skills, we are especially keen to hear from those who bring diversity of thought and background and in particular have experience in any of the following areas:

  • public or third sector experience
  • senior industry leaders with strong background in Employment, Skills and / or Social Enterprise
  • experience in business turnaround, expansion and or value creation

Aligned to the vision and core values of Unity Works, we also invite individuals with a learning disability to leverage their experiences and insights and help shape the future of Unity Works.

You will have a comprehensive induction to the role of the director and the way in which Unity Works and the Thera Group function.  You will take part in other board development opportunities and have what we believe will be a unique board experience.

Please call Martin Pilkington on 07595 200476 or email martin.pilkington@thera.co.uk for an informal discussion.
