The CQC is the independent regulator of health and social care in England. They inspect all registered health and social care providers to ensure they are safe, effective, caring, responsive and well-led.
Thera East Anglia was rated ‘outstanding’ for being caring, responsive and well-led, and rated ‘good’ for being safe and effective.
A family member of someone supported by Thera East Anglia told CQC inspectors that they “couldn’t recommend this company highly enough. We all believe so strongly in this company; they are a beacon of light in how people with a learning disability should be cared for.”
Jemima Burnage, CQC Head of Inspection for Adult Social Care in the central region, said: “Our inspection team was very impressed by the level of care and support offered by Thera East Anglia.
“People and their relatives told us staff brought a consistently caring and compassionate approach to their work.
Staff took a genuine interest in people’s wellbeing, taking time to listen to their concerns and support them to improve their quality of life.
They treated people with dignity and respect, winning their trust and helping them make informed decisions about their care.
“The service offered people flexibility, working in partnership with them to shape care around their needs and preferences. This included responding when care plans needed to accommodate people’s changing needs. One person had reduced mobility following a stay in hospital, so staff brought in a physiotherapist to help them regain independence.
The leadership of the service was exceptional and distinctive, setting the right priorities to deliver great care for people.
“Leaders actively sought input from people and their relatives to shape the future of the service, giving people a vote on strategic issues and a say about how it was run. This approach won plaudits from everyone with a stake in the service including its staff, who told us they felt recognised for the high standards of care they offered.
“All of this meant people received a high standard of care, which is why it has been rated Outstanding.”
Lorna Weston, Managing Director, said: “This amazing rating is a testament to the incredible work we have all done at every level and within every role in Thera East Anglia!”
