A recent CQC inspection determined that Thera East Midlands is “Outstanding” for having a “Well-led service”, and “Good” overall.

CQC inspections are an important part of making sure providers give excellent support to people.

There were two elements checked by the CQC in the inspection. They were:

  • Safety – to check whether the service is safe, and to ensure that people supported aren’t at risk of harm or abuse.
  • Well-Lead – to make sure that the leadership and management are good quality, and that they promote a person centric and fair environment.

Inspectors were impressed with staff at Thera East Midlands allowing maximum choice for the people they were supporting. They found the culture is “extremely person centered and achieved excellent outcomes for people” and that it was carried across staff, managers, and people we supported.

People were supported to have maximum choice and control of their lives and staff supported them in the least restrictive way possible and in their best interests

CQC inspectors spoke to members of staff, people we support, and their family member, during their inspection and heard very positive stories of how well staff were supporting people. Inspectors noted that people supported by Thera East Midlands felt safe and knew that staff would listen to them if they needed any help.

Staff continue to demonstrate Thera’s vision and enable people with a learning disability to have direct choice and control of their support. Well done to staff across Thera East Midlands and thank you for all that you do!
