We use a skills-based approach. This means we can help you feel more confident about doing things for yourself. This might include using public transport or looking for a job.
We can also help you make the most of what your local area has to offer, such as sports, shopping or community groups.
The Meeting Place – Peterborough
The Meeting Place is not your traditional day support offer! While we are centrally located in Peterborough, our support happens within the community. Our support is available Monday to Friday.
We are particularly skilled in supporting young people with a learning disability who are leaving college and looking to take their first steps into adult life.
We know change can be worrying, but our friendly staff team are here to help. We will design your support with you and your circle of support, and help you think about what you would like to achieve.
Some of the things we can help with include:
- Work-based opportunities – including informal placements, volunteering, and preparation for paid employment
- Confidence building – such as using public transport confidently by yourself
- Skills development – helping you develop the skills you need to live independently on your own, like cooking meals
We work closely with other local organisations within the Peterborough community to make sure you can take part in the things you want to do, which might also include leisure activities or attending social groups.
If you would like to find out how we could support you, please get in touch!
Club 82 – Whittlesey
Club 82 offers skills based, community support in Whittlesey and the surrounding areas.
We can support you to do whatever you would like to do. Our support is entirely tailored to your needs and can range from a couple hours a week to full days. We can help you access a wide range of opportunities, including health and wellbeing, leisure, socialising and skills building.
Club 82 also has a crafts and creations shop on High Causeway and was set up in partnership with the people we support. Members of the community join us to make a variety of crafts and have a catch up over a cup of tea. It’s a brilliant way to make new friends and do something you enjoy.
Club 82 also helps people to prepare for employment. Staff have supported people with a learning disability to volunteer at the craft shop. Some of the things people have been doing include serving customers and stock-taking. Developing these skills will enable people to reach their ambition of paid employment. Our support staff has also supported people to get paid employment outside of the crafts shop.
