We are a national charity working towards a more inclusive society where every person with learning disabilities feels safe, respected, and empowered to live a happy and fulfilling life.
We believe a ‘great life’ looks different for everyone, and everyone should get to choose what that looks like for them. At Thera, each person is involved in designing their support plan so we can understand what they need and want to achieve. This supports people to have leadership in their own life. We also offer support in finding a home, finding employment, volunteering or training opportunities, having the social life you want and managing your money through financial advocacy.
We currently support over 3,000 people with learning disabilities, with each person receiving support tailored to their needs and aspirations.
Our goal is that this is the reality for all people with learning disabilities. However, we know that this is not the case. Many people with learning disabilities are still being labelled and are facing barriers to the basic things people need to live a great life: housing, employment, social connection, finances and healthcare. If we don’t act now, more people with learning disabilities will fall through the cracks and continue to be isolated in their communities.
