Thera Trust has been awarded funding to roll out a project, training 50 people as Super Trainers to raise awareness of the STOMP pledge and to champion the RESTORE2TM Mini project.
These Super Trainers will be offering the training to staff across Thera Group, people with a learning disability and their families as well as any external partners such as local authorities or NHS staff and parent-carer organisations.
The training gives people the tools they need to advocate for people with a learning disability’s healthcare.
Service Quality Directors from across Thera Group showcase Thera’s vision that people with a learning disability can be leaders in society through their roles as Service Quality Directors with a lived experience of a learning disability.
The Service Quality Directors received a full day of face-to-face training and are now Super Trainers able to deliver training on RESTORE2TM Mini and STOMP. Having a lived experience of a learning disability means that they will be able to use their own lived experience to advocate for people and to challenge the use of psychotropic medication.
Alongside the Service Quality Directors and their Executive Assistants, Quality Assessors from The Quality Company, Project Managers and Learning and Development trainers are also now Super Trainers.
