Aspire Growing is part of Aspire Living and supports people with learning disabilities across Herefordshire and Worcestershire. Based in Hereford, Aspire Growing grows food in the gardens and cooks the food grown in their onsite café. The people we support at Aspire Growing play a big part in all stages of growing the vegetables and interacting with the local community.
The demand for the chilli jam is high, and the feedback is so good that they now have a regular order to keep their chilli jam on the menu along with seasonal produce like tomatoes and onions, which is such a fantastic achievement for the team.
The chillies are grown in the Aspire Growing gardens and they’ve also produced their own cider vinegar from the apples in their orchard, which is used in the jams and chutneys.
Each week the team, made up of the people Aspire Growing supports and staff members, walk to the café to hand deliver a selection of produce and jams. This process and feedback from their local community has had a really positive impact on the people Aspire Growing supports.
