National Apprenticeship Week – A Year in Review

Posted 13/02/2025

As part of National Apprenticeship Week, we're looking back over the past year on successes across our programmes and we look forward to plans for the future in relation to learning and skills.

Over 2023/2024, Unity Works programmes supported 85 trainees, 70 ACL learners and 297 people across supported employment.

Over the past year, we supported:

  • 4 trainees to complete their NVQs
  • 4 trainees to progress towards their NVQs.

Adult Community Learning

Our Greenwich based Adult Learning programme continued to support people with a learning disability to develop self-confidence, to learn new skills and to improve their understanding of their local community. We were delighted to find out that we were a Highly Commended Finalist at the Mayor of London’s Adult Learning Awards.

Supported Internships

Supported Internships have continued to grow with Unity Works now delivering five programmes with DFN Project Search (up from three the previous year). These excellent programmes have resulted in skill development for both their interns and the host employers as well as several interns securing paid roles well before their graduation dates.

The future

My Unity Pathway, our accessible learning portal, is now in its roll out phase. We started the roll out with our trainees and individuals enrolled on our Unity Futures programme with the focus now turning to our adult community learning learners. My Unity Pathway will support individuals on their journey with us as well as enabling us to build a strong evidence base of engagement and progression, and thus help us to continue making the case for accessible vocational programmes and accessible apprenticeships.

We are keen to talk to training providers and employers about their accessibility and our employer engagement team is always happy to speak to businesses about their training needs and how they can offer opportunities to the people we support.
