Sam attends safeguarding conference and continues outreach work

Thera South West’s Service Quality Director, Sam, recently attended a safeguarding conference in Leeds, where they shared their personal experiences and emphasised the importance of timely safeguarding measures.

Thera South West’s Service Quality Director, Sam, recently attended a safeguarding conference in Leeds, after being asked to speak by organiser Home Group. The conference brought together professionals and advocates dedicated to improving safeguarding practices and ensuring the well-being of vulnerable individuals.

Sam shared her personal experiences and emphasised the importance of timely safeguarding measures. They shared how delays in safeguarding had impacted their life, showing the importance of addressing safeguarding issues swiftly to prevent further harm and support those in need.

Sam’s candid and honest account of their experiences led to positive feedback and further invitations to speak at other events in Devon and Exeter. This opportunity will allow Sam to share her experiences with a broader audience and continue advocating for timely safeguarding measures.

In addition to their speaking engagements, Sam and Estelle have been invited to appear on Rewind Radio and Community Hospital Broadcasting News for a second time. These platforms will provide them with exciting opportunities to share their stories and experiences with a wider audience, furthering their advocacy efforts.

Sam’s passion for outreach comes from her belief that Thera South West provides top quality support to people with a learning disability and she wants more people to be aware of the possibilities for either themselves, or their loved one.
