Thera North recently hosted their 2023 staff awards to celebrate people's achievements over the past year.

The event was held at The Bridge Church in Bolton on Wednesday 22 March and people travelled in from local areas, as well as Cumbria and Darlington.

Hosted by Managing Director, Craig Sutherland, Thera North received over 120 nominations, and 47 awards were given out to individuals and teams.

Laura Booton, Personal Assistant to Craig Sutherland, spoke about the importance of the awards.

The awards are important to recognise the achievements of the people we support, and our staff. The nomination process is extremely successful and the celebration event includes everyone.

It is clear that Thera North’s person centred approach is one that all members of the staff believe in. The relationships between the people we support, and the support workers were clear to see, as was the dignity and care that people were treated with. Laura’s favourite moment from the awards shows this.

My favourite moment was Phil presenting the Chairperson’s award. The team at Castlekeep View provide incredible support, under extremely difficult circumstances. It was so special that the nomination read was submitted by a parent, who was at the event with her daughter.

The event also gave recognition to some of the people we support with lived experience and recognised their tremendous accomplishments.

Amongst others, Brian Robson, Fran Affleck, Lee Hudson, and Fiona Johnstone were recognised for their contributions to Thera North and achievements in their own life.

Brian was celebrated for advocating for himself in an outside volunteer role. Lee helped host several parts of the awards show as well as assisting with the taking of photographs, and was celebrated for how far his confidence has come. Fran was mentioned for her positive attitude, her desire to get involved, and her work as a Quality Assessor. Fiona was given the assistant of the year award for her tireless efforts and consistent involvement in supporting Thera North.

Thera North’s exceptional service has seen them grow over the past year, including supporting ten people in Bolton. By putting the people they support first, and listening to their ideas and wants, Thera North have arranged a sports day in Lancashire and a summer ball in Darlington later this year.

Congratulations to all the nominees and winners!
