Thera (Scotland) Support Worker Wayne takes huge steps for our Wellbeing walks!

Posted 25/02/2022

Thera (Scotland) Support Worker Wayne took part in our Wellbeing Walks in January and took a huge amount of steps!

Wayne joined Thera (Scotland) in 2020 after working in a variety of other roles. As his first role in the social care sector, Wayne loves working with the people we support. As he moved onto a new journey in his career, he found an outlet in exercise, beginning on a treadmill and then walking in the beautiful Scottish countryside.

“Walking is good on every level. It puts you into a better place mentally and physically.”

It was a natural step from there to take part in challenges for charity. To date, Wayne has done challenges including walking the distance from John O’Groats to Land’s End – 874 miles and walking for 24 hours solid.

Wayne has also found that the person he supports loves to be included in his walking. The individual uses a wheelchair and enjoys the sensations of the wind and the road. He particularly likes going over bumpy train tracks!

Wayne managed to walk over a million steps in January during our wellbeing walks, many with the people he supports!

Well done Wayne, and we look forward to hearing about your adventures moving forward!
