Short Breaks

Short breaks (also known as respite) are popular with younger people who have just left or are getting ready to leave school or college as part of their journey into adulthood.

Our short breaks house is called Highgrove, a large, detached house in Bury. We provide excellent person-first support and a home-from-home experience. Most importantly, we make sure everyone has a brilliant time!

Short breaks at Highgrove are an excellent stepping stone to building your confidence to move into your own home in the future, when you are ready.

Some of the benefits of staying at Highgrove include:

  • Making new friends
  • Developing a social network
  • Experiencing staying away from home
  • Learning new life skills
  • Becoming more independent

The house is close to local amenities with excellent road and public transport links, including the Rock Shopping Centre. One of the main benefits for someone supported at Highgrove is the opportunity to make friends and build confidence within a safe, fun and structured environment.

Other features of Highgrove include:

  • Three good sized bedrooms
  • A bathroom with jacuzzi bath and separate shower room, plus a downstairs toilet
  • Spacious kitchen-diner with all the facilities needed to cook and prepare meals
  • Lounge with television and music
  • Utility and laundry room
  • Off-street parking
  • A well-maintained mature garden with a greenhouse and planting beds to grow our own produce
  • A cosy courtyard with awning for those hot summer days
