Short breaks (respite)

Thera East Anglia can provide short breaks (also known as respite) for people with a learning disability.

We provide building-based short breaks at:

  • Willowdene
  • Oaklands

We can also offer short breaks in a person’s own home through support provided by the team at Oaklands.

Oaklands

Oaklands aims to support you to remain at home for as long as possible, working alongside your family carers.

We are really happy we found Oaklands, we know our daughter is happy and so well looked after all the time. We can’t thank you enough, it sort of makes you realise as a mum that other people can care for your child. Which makes you feel more secure about the future.

Short breaks allow you to have a break and do the things you enjoy with support from other people.

Short breaks can enable your family carers to do the things they need to do, such as getting back into paid employment.

You can come and stay with us at Oaklands or we can come to you in your home.

Oaklands is a large detached bungalow in Alpington near Norwich. The bungalow offers:

  • Open plan kitchen-dining room
  • Sensory room with interactive floor
  • A bathroom with LED light changing spa bath
  • A wet room
  • Utility room
  • A spacious and safe garden with a swing, summer house and sunken trampoline

We offer overnight stays with waking or sleep in staff as required. Transport can also be provided as part of your support package.
