Short Breaks

Short breaks (also known as respite) are popular with younger people who have just left or are getting ready to leave school or college as part of their journey into adulthood.

Our short breaks house is called Highgrove, a large, detached house in Bury.

Highgrove offers a unique and highly personalised short breaks experience for adults with learning disabilities and autism. Supporting a maximum of three people at any one time, we can provide tailored overnight stays that are centred around everyone’s needs, preferences and goals. With a minimum of 1:1 support, every person is supported to make the most of their break in a way that is meaningful to them.

Building Independence at Highgrove

Unlike more traditional short breaks services, Highgrove focuses on creating opportunities for people to enjoy the activities they love, build confidence and develop greater independence. Whether that means going swimming, visiting local attractions, enjoying hobbies, or exploring the local community, each stay is designed around the individual. Our experienced team works alongside people to help them achieve their personal goals while ensuring they feel safe, supported and valued.

Highgrove also provides a welcoming environment where people can spend time with others, make new friends and develop lasting relationships. By combining tailored support, community involvement and opportunities for social connection, we help people gain new experiences, increase their independence and enjoy meaningful short breaks that enhance their overall quality of life.
