Meet the senior management team for our West Midlands region.

Chris Beckingham-Paul

Managing Director

Chris has worked in social care since 1986, having commenced his career supporting people with a learning disability living in the South Wales valleys.

Within two years Chris had been promoted to a management position, initially of a small residential service before setting up a new respite service for people with a learning disability.

After spending four years working for a local authority Chris went on to continue his career for the next 31 years, working for two of the leading providers of support services for people with a learning disability in South, Mid and West Wales, where he held a number of senior positions such as Assistant Corporate Director, Director of Operations and Head of Service.

Chris has a passion for providing high quality support for people and has an extensive knowledge of sectorial issues and is committed to working in partnership with colleagues from health, social services and other charitable & voluntary organisations.

Chris is fully conversant with the frameworks under which services are regulated having previously been the Responsible Individual with Care Inspectorate Wales and currently the Nominated Individual with the Care Quality Commission.

Chris has also previously been a trustee and chairperson of various Mind organisations.

Barbara Browne

Executive Assistant

Barbara is Executive Assistant to the Service Quality Director. She started her career with Thera in 2010 as a support worker. Barbara enjoys being out and about meeting the people we support in their homes, in the community and being part of the Thera Trust West Midlands region team.

Sue Bucknell

Operational Manager

Sue is the Operational Manager for Community Activities including our Community Hub and Cafe and Garden Project, Hereford and Leominster Community Support.

She started with Aspire Living in 2014 and joined Thera Trust in 2016. She brings 20 years experience of working for charities and community development. She strives to work with her team to provide a range of activities for people outside of their home environment.

Patsy Deacon

Operational Manager

Patsy is an experienced operations manager having started her career in social care 30 years ago as a support worker and have worked her way up. She enjoys that every day is different and that we make such a difference to the lives of people we support. Having a good sense of humour definitely helps. She loves working with her colleagues and people she supports. It is definitely much more than just a job.

Su Waters

Operational Manager

Su has been in health and social care for many years and previously worked as a prison officer. She believes that great care is about kindness, consistency, and not being afraid to have a laugh along the way. Su’s team will say she’s firm but fair, big on standards, bigger on people, and first to volunteer when someone says, "shall we dress up for it?".

Hollie Jenkins

Operational Manager

Hollie is an experienced Operations Manager with a career in social care that began after leaving university. Starting her journey as a support worker, she’s worked her way up through the sector, gaining valuable experience and a string understanding of the people and communities we support.
Hollie is passionate about people and making a difference in their lives. She takes pride in leading teams, improving services and creating positive outcomes for those we support. For her, social care is more than just a career – it’s about making a meaningful difference every day.
