Breast Cancer Resources – Know your Chest

These resources were created in collaboration with CoppaFeel! to provide accessible information to people with a learning disability on how to check their chest for early signs of breast cancer.

Breast cancer can affect anybody. So, it is really important for everyone to get to know what is normal for their body and check themselves regularly. People with a learning disability face additional barriers when it comes to knowing what is normal for them. This led to the creation of easy read breast cancer resources between Ansar Projects and CoppaFeel!

The resources will help you or someone you support to know what their chest usually looks like, what changes to look out for and how to look and feel for these changes. You can document all of this in the body diaries, which can help you track how your chest looks and feels over time. It is recommended that you check yourself once a month.

The checking card serves as an easy reminder on the symptoms of breast cancer. You can print it out and put them up in a bathroom or wherever you check your chest most often.

Finally, the accessible health information resources on breast cancer explain what breast cancer is and what might happen if you are referred to a breast clinic.

Whilst everyone is different, the message is the same for everyone: check your chest!
